CSW57, March 15, Day 10
Following the rigorous two weeks of CSW57, some members of the delegation decided to spend the last day sight seeing in New York. We started our day the Museum of Natural History, where relics of the past captured all our imaginations! Followed by lunch on the museum steps, we were off to the 9/11 Memorial site. Newly constructed towers stand juxtaposed to the two very large infinity pools at the site of twin towers. The sound of falling water adds a serene quality to the environment, amidst all the noises from the construction site. Next up was a ferry ride on the State Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty (Liberty Island and Ellis Island were still closed due to damages from Hurricane Sandy). There is something truly magical about Lady Liberty standing tall in the New York harbor! With Manhattan and Jersey City in the backdrop, we were transported to a time when immigrants came to these lands with dreams of liberty and freedom, by the thousands on ships, and were greeted by the site of the magnificent Lady Liberty. As the sun set, we made our way back to Manhattan on the ferry and then to the Meditation Center and Gallery, where cups of hot chocolate greeted us!
