There was a hub of excitement in the hall  filled with hundreds of NGO representatives, as everyone settled down to receive news of the upcoming 66th UN DPI/NGO Conference.  Moderated by Ms. Hawa Diallo, NGO Relations and Advocacy; Mr. Maher Nasser, Director, Outreach Division, DPI; and the two co-chairs of the Conference and Planning Committee – Mr. YuKang Choi, founder and CEO of NGO Dream Touch for All (via skype) and Mr. Scott Carlin, Associate Professor of Geography and NGO representative at Long Island University – shared the much awaited information with the audience.

The theme for the conference is ‘Education for Global Citizenship’ with the purpose of exploring how education can promote and support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As Co-chair, Mr. Scott Carlin mentioned, Global Citizenship  means “everything is connected with everything else.”

The conference is to be held in South Korea in the beautiful city of Gyeongju from May 30 to June 1, 2016. The venue is 4 hours away from the Capital City, Seoul, by car, and 2 hours by express train!

Active participation from all NGOs is expected. Sub-committees and co-chairs are being set up for the different responsibilities of the conference, and the Brahma Kumaris have offered help in a few areas, which are yet to be finalized.
