The United Nations Department of Public Information is organizing their annual conference in Asia, for the first time. The Government of the Republic of Korea and the National Organizing Committee of Korea will host the conference under the theme of ‘Education for Global Citizenship – Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals Together.’

The Conference will provide a unique opportunity for participating NGOs to engage members of civil society, diplomats, United Nations officials, policy experts, scientists, educators, businesses, trade unions, parliamentarians, local authorities and others from around the world in discussing key issues relevant during this year, for example, focus will be on creating and strengthening global partnerships in support of the recently adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Brahma Kumaris is also organizing a workshop entitled, Lifelong Learning to Enhance Human Flourishing.

The workshop will support the pillar of informal education and training. We will explore different perspectives on how values-based informal education encourages confidence, builds resilience and enables hope in individuals and communities where it may have been lost.

The experience of the self as a peaceful and powerful being creates an inner state of dignity and strength. Without this, we tend to be molded by the experience of external challenges and lose our sense of self. Coming back to a state of peace after experiencing a traumatic situation requires inner strength and inner awareness. Values-based lifelong education, focusing on these aspects, is vital in rebuilding the lives of people and communities.

Our aim is to enable individuals to flourish and to become empowered global citizens who participate in their own and the world’s transformation for a better future.
