Human Rights Day Celebration
Stand Up For Human Rights – Celebrating 70 years!!
The UN celebrated its 70th. anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on Monday, December 11 by launching a year-long campaign, #standup4humanrights.
Ms. Susan Marie Frontczak, as Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, brought to life what took place seven decades ago in preparing this purposeful document. She highlighted some of the challenges faced such as, finding the correct words to use that would be all inclusive, for example, in article 1: “all men are created equal..” was finally “all human beings are born equal…”
It was a pleasure watching and listening to her as she described events of the past and even attempted to answer questions holding us in a space of 70 years ago!!
The UN singers of the UN Staff Recreation Council also entertained all gathered to celebrate this day. Listen: Here
