International Day of Peace celebrations 2023

Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #GlobalGoals

September 14, 2023, UNHQ and the Tillman Chapel of the UN Church Center.

This program had 2 sessions. The first Session was the Youth Event from 9:00am to 12:00pm. This year, the youth event focused on the theme “Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #GlobalGoals”. Panels shared their contribution and achievement in fostering Peace through many ways inline with the SDGs. This includes sharing of concerns by youths, video by youths and a fashion show by the youths.

This was followed by 6 interactive workshops from 1:15pm – 2:30pm taking place simultaneously. The session on Creating SDG Games was very inspiring and showcased ideas on how to create games from basics to computer based.

The Peace Day couldn’t be completed without the participation of the many NGOs, especially those who are active in peacekeeping and peace building.

This segment of the celebrations took place at the Tillman Chapel of the UN Church Center. Organized by the Committee for Religious NGOs, prayers and meditation were shared by many faith-based traditions. This was followed by the beautiful flag ceremony where participants held flags of countries and shared thoughts of peace collectively for each country.
