International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination.
The International Day of Yoga Committee at the United Nations and the Brahma Kumaris, organized a sacred circle at the Meditation Center and Gallery on Tuesday, March 8, to celebrate this day.
Since ancient times, women have come together in circles to heal themselves and their communities. These sacred gatherings have offered a space for women to strengthen bonds, empower voices, and take action individually and collectively transforming themselves, each other, their communities and the world.
A diverse group of lovely women gathered and shared inspiring stories of courage, resilience, faith, and determination, mostly of ordinary women (many times about their ancestors) who have played an extraordinary role in their lives and often in the history of their countries and communities.
The evening closed with a guided meditation that surfaced virtues such as tolerance, calm, compassion, care, stability, confidence, connectedness, faith, gratitude, and inner strength.
The evening created a feeling of being nurtured and supported. There was a sense of togetherness, and a knowing that we can re-visit our inner world whenever we wish and surface those feelings again.
