Shared light, Shared Dignity; Celebrating our Spiritual and Human Rights

A warm and friendly event on Wednesday, December 10 brought members of the NGO Community together to celebrate the holidays and Human Rights Day: Shared Light, Shared Dignity.

Heartfelt stories of lived experiences of dignity shared by Ms. Laura Simms, renowned storyteller and writer,  and the participants left everyone deeply moved and inspired.

BK Sabita Geer, Vice-chair of the NGO Committee on Spirituality, Values, and Global Concerns-NY and Brahma Kumaris UN representative, gave the opening remarks drawing attention to our interconnectedness and the importance of staying aligned with our own inner dignity so we can inspire the same in others.

BK Julia Grindon-Welch, BK UN representative, read a few of the articles from the UN Declaration on Human Rights and the equivalent Spiritual Rights.

Music by Lakshmi Music enhanced the experience some more by lifting the frequency of love and wonder in the room.

Danilo Parmegiani, Chair of the NGO Committee on Spirituality, Values, and Global Concerns-NY, who joined virtually, also extended his warm greetings for the holidays and acknowledged the great service the Committee, and many other NGOs, rendered in the year.

Rosleny Ubinas, Corresponding Secretary of the Committee, as MC, smoothly held the gathering throughout the event.

The celebration was largely supported by the members of the Committee, the Brahma Kumaris, Legion of Good Will, and the Baha’is International Community. There’s nothing better than tasty treats and warm music to send off everyone with new hope and inspiration.
