GandhiKing Season for Nonviolence Annual event

The Brahma Kumaris partnered with Learn Lead Serve, Inc. to organize their 28th Annual Seasonal Intergenerational Cross-Cultural Historic Educational Event.  The celebration also commemorated the 60th. anniversary of the historic “Selma to Montgomery March” with feature address by Civil Rights Movement icon, Lynda Blackmon Lowery.

BK Sabita Geer, Representative of the Brahma Kumaris at the UN shared a beautiful message on “Breathe Peace, Think Peace.”

This full school day observance was held at New York Society for Ethical Culture on Thursday, April 3, 2025 with participation from schools within all 5 boroughs of New York. A few key phrases that touched the hearts of many are:

  • “let there be steady, loving, confrontation” – Dr. Martin Luther King to Lynda Blackmon.
  • “respect, acceptance, appreciation, and understanding of why we here are key to maintaining nonviolent behavior” – Dr. Arun Gandhi
  • “put UNITY back into the word, commUNITY and HUMAN back in HUMANity”.
