International Mother Earth Day

Brahma Kumaris worldwide celebrated Earth Day by planting trees, holding open dialogues to remind the world of our interconnectedness and to recommit our service to Mother Earth, and hosting meditation sessions to share positive energy of love, respect, and gratitude with Mother Nature.

The Brahma Kumaris at the UN organized a special meditation at the Office of the BK at the UN on Tuesday, April 22. It was a hybrid event where attendees listened to a video of Sister Jayanti’s message followed by sharing and meditation. https://www.instagram.com/p/DIwYJMuvYbs/

Care for the Self, Care for the Earth

An Earth Day program of Chicago Brahma Kumaris

Sunday, April 27, 2025

The Chicago Brahma Kumaris commemorated Mother Earth Day on April 27 with inspiring messages to reach higher in our care for the earth.  Ashley Goeken, President of United Nations Association Chicago, opened the program by observing that care for the earth is an attitude that pervades all that we do.  She commented that the vegan lunch that people would soon enjoy is an expression of care for all living beings.  Arjun Sawhney, UNA Ambassador for Justice, Peace & Strong Institutions, shared that his meditation practice supports his passion for peace and justice in the world.  Susan Casey, Project Manager for composting for City of Chicago, encouraged people to be conscious about buying and using food, as 30% of the food in the US is either unsold or not eaten.  Sonja Ohlsson, Coordinator of the BK global Environment Initiative, inspired people to observe their habits of consumption from a place of inner peace, and they will easily see ways to reduce.  Caring for the earth in small ways makes us happy and appreciative.  Each participant received a small basil plant to nurture and enjoy, as a reminder that we are God’s stewards of the earth.
