Participation in UN Events

We participate in various UN conferences through written and oral statements, organizing events, workshops and exhibitions.  We also co-sponsor events with UN agencies and missions, thus offering our expertise to the UN’s secular issues.

Some of the conferences that the Brahma Kumaris especially participate in include:

  • Commission on Social Development (CSocD)

     

    The NGO Committee on Social Development is dedicated to raising awareness and holding discussions on social development issues taken up by the UN System and in particular by the UN Commission for Social Development. https://social.desa.un.org/csocd
  • United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

  • United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (UN CBD)

     

    The United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is a legally binding international agreement that aims to conserve biological diversity, use it sustainably, and fairly share the benefits of genetic resources. https://www.cbd.int/
  • United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UN CCD)

     

    The UNCCD is the global voice for land that promotes practices that avoid, reduce and reverse land degradation and are the driving force behind Sustainable Development Goal 15 and Land Degradation Neutrality. https://www.unccd.int/
  • Civil Society Organizations Annual Conference (UN CSO Conference)

     

    Civil Society Organizations Annual Conference is a gathering where representatives from various non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community groups, and other civil society actors come together to discuss critical matters affecting their communities, share best practices, network, and advocate for policy changes related to social, environmental, and human rights concerns. https://www.un.org/en/un-civil-society-conference
  • High Level Political Forum (HLPF)

     

    The HLPF was established at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) in 2012 in its outcome “The Future We Want“. The HLPF is an integral part of the global architecture for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs and is convened annually under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for eight days. https://hlpf.un.org
  • Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) conferences

  • The Ocean Conference

     

    The Conference aims to be the game changer that will reverse the decline in the health of our ocean for people, planet and prosperity. It will be solutions-focused with engagement from all.   • UN Water Conference

     

    Billions of people are still living without safely managed water and sanitation. Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 is to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030. https://www.unwater.org
  • UN Department of Road Safety and Security

     

    Road traffic crashes are a leading cause of death and serious injury to United Nations personnel. Road traffic crashes involving UN vehicles are also a cause of fatalities and serious injuries in the communities we serve.   • United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
